Sarasate Introduction and Tarantella for Violin and String Orchestra

Sarasate needs no introduction to violinists at all! I've loved the Introduction and Tarantella for many years.  I've used Sarasate's score for violin and orchestra as a basis for this string orchestra arrangement.

The sheet music PDF file contains the score and all string parts.

Saint-Saëns Romance Op.36 for Horn and String Orchestra

Saint-Saëns composed this Romance for Horn or Cello and small orchestra.  It is probably the version for the horn that most widely performed.

Here is an arrangement for Horn and String Orchestra.

We also have a version for Cello and String Orchestra on MyMusicScores too.

Telemann Violin Concerto in G TWV 51:G8

Telemann composed either 21 or 22 violin concertos along with concertos for two, three and four violins.

This concerto has been played by many a young violinist.  It is very accessible and I tend to use it before doing the Vivaldi Op.3 No.6 in A minor.  It's in three movements, Allegro, Adagio, Allegro with the first movement having a little bit of double stopping to navigate.

I hope this version for Violin and String Orchestra is of some use to you.

Corrette Concerto Comique No. 24

We don't know much about Michel Corrette.  There is a list of positions he held.  He was a popular teacher with many pupils.  Some critics think that his arrangements are better than his original compositions! He left us several musical instruction books which give us insight into contemporary playing techniques

Corrette composed 25 Concerto Comiques based on popular tunes of the day.  He arranged these tunes for three melody instruments and continuo.  The version of his Concerto No.24 is for three violins and continuo.

I've corrected as many of the errors in the score as I could find and tidied up some of the articulation and slurs.

Faure Berceuse Op.16 for Viola and String Orchestra

Faure's Berceuse Op.16 was first performed at the Societe Nationale in 1880 by the violinist Ovide Musin. The piece has  a song like quality and is instantaneously recognisable as a work by Faure.  After hearing the first performance of Berceuse, Julien Hamelle offered to publish Faure's works.

This arrangement for Viola and String Orchestra is based on Faure's own arrangement for Violin and Orchestra.

Rieding Concerto Op 36 for Violin and Strings

Having jut done a version for violin and piano I thought I would do one foe violin and string orchestra - just in case anyone needed it!

The opus 36 in D major can all be played in the first position. I particularly like the second movement, such a lovely opening.  The last movement zips along nicely with the need of some secure bowing.
