Benes Rondoletto for Violin and Piano

Benes Rondoletto for Violin and Piano

I can't find out a great deal about Benes!  What I do know is that this Rondoletto is a really good piece.  It is all playable in first position, has a catchy tune and has a couple of triplet passages that lay well under the fingers of a young violinist.  It will be one piece that I'll be adding to my teaching list.  Hope it's helpful.

Cui Perpetuum Mobile Op. 50 No. 12 for Violin and Piano

I was really taken with the YouTube performance of Alard Nocturne for Violin and Piano that I used with the post for the sheet music that I had prepared.  In the video there was a performance of this piece by Cui.  I had not heard of it before and I really liked it.  So here it is!

This Perpetuum Mobile comes from a set of pieces Op.50 entitled Kaleidoscope. These piece take a poetic look at salon music of the time and this piece, number 12 is a charming little show stopper that takes just over a minute to perform!

Drdla’s Souvenir, composed in 1904, was one of over 250 salon pieces that he composed.  The Souvenir and his Serenade No. 1 are his two most recorded pieces today and are pieces that are worth learning.
