Mollenhauer The Infant Paganini for Violin and String Orchestra

Mollenhauer had the pleasure of having both Ernst and Spohr as a violin teacher. He moved to the London and the on to The US where he was a frequent soloist with the New York Philharmonic. He composed two violin concertos, 3 symphonies a couple of quartets and several works for violin and piano. The Infant Paganini is a great piece for the intermediate violinist and always goes down well at concerts.

Kreisler Praeludium and Allegro for Violin and String Orchestra

In 1936 Fritz Kreisler revealed to the world that many of the miniatures that he performed were composed by him and not works ascribed to earlier composers such as Gaetano Pugnani.  The Praeludium and Allegro had been published in 1905, thirty one years before this confession.  By that time it had found its way in the hearts of violinists and audiences alike.  The dramatic Praeludium gives way to the lively Allegro.  No one will ever know if Gaetano Pugnani (1731–98) would have enjoyed Kreisler’s fun piece but violinists certainly do!

Eichber Concertino for Violin and Piano

Eichber Concertino for Violin and Piano

Julius Eichber composed several educational pieces for the violin.  Here is a wonderful Violin Concertino to add to our student's repertoire.  It is nice and short with some good opportunities to build on solid left and right hand techniques.  I hope it's useful...

Dancla Premier Solo Op.77 No.1 for Violin and String Orchestra

Dancla composed many pieces for violin.  Here is a piece that I've used a couple of times with pupils.  It has some moments in it but on the whole it is very playable.
