Ferrandini

Giovanni Battista Ferrandini (c.1710–1791) was an Italian oboist and composer who spent the greater part of his career at the Munich court, serving the Bavarian Electors as a chamber musician for several decades. His output spans the transition from late Baroque to early Classical, and his cantata Pianto di Maria, a Marian lament for soprano and strings, has attracted renewed interest in early music circles for its expressive intensity. One of many skilled Italian musicians who carried the Baroque tradition northwards during the eighteenth century, he spent his final years in Padua before returning to Munich to die.
