Cello and Piano

Cello and piano

The cello and piano sonata repertoire is as rich as it gets in chamber music. Beethoven wrote five sonatas for the pair; Brahms wrote two; there are major works from Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Grieg, and Fauré's Élégie is one of the most loved short pieces in the catalogue. Alongside the concert repertoire, there's a long tradition of teaching and examination pieces for the combination at every grade level.

We're building this section steadily, with a focus on editions that are clearly engraved and practical to use in lessons and recitals.

If there's a piece you'd like to see here, please get in touch. The request-a-score option is a genuine one, and suggestions shape what we add next.
