Yanshinov

Aleksey Ivanovich Yanshinov (1871-1943) was a Russian composer, violinist, and pedagogue. Born in Moscow, he studied at the Moscow Conservatory with renowned teachers like Jan Hřímalý and Anton Arensky. Yanshinov's compositions, often imbued with a late-Romantic Russian flavor, include works for violin, orchestra, and chamber ensembles.

He is particularly known for his Concertino in Russian Style for violin and orchestra, Op. 35, which remains a popular choice for aspiring violinists. Yanshinov was also a dedicated educator, teaching violin and music theory at the Moscow Conservatory and other institutions. His legacy lies in his accessible and melodic compositions, contributing to the rich tapestry of Russian musical tradition.
