Locatelli composed his 12 Concerto Grosso Op. 1 in 1721. In 1729 he spent time revising the scores.
Locatelli uses the form set out by Corelli in his Concerto Grosso. Both composers' eighth Concerto Grosso being Christmass concertos with the last movement being a pastoral.
