Score Request

How It Works

There's no commission fee. You simply pay the normal price for the finished score once it's complete—the same price as any similar arrangement on the website.

Why would I offer this? I'm constantly searching for new repertoire to arrange, which can take hours of research and second-guessing what musicians actually want. When you request an arrangement, you're solving that problem for me:

  • You're telling me exactly what the market needs — if one customer wants it, others will too
  • It builds relationships — we collaborate to create something you need
  • It identifies gaps — arrangements you request may not be available on other platforms
  • It validates demand — I'm investing time into scores I know people want

You get:

  • The exact arrangement you need for your ensemble
  • Professional Sibelius engraving to publication standard
  • Full score + all parts (PDF format)
  • Standard MyMusicScores pricing (typically £15-35 depending on length and complexity)
  • Priority notification when it's ready

I get:

  • A validated addition to my catalogue
  • Direct insight into what teachers and performers are looking for
  • A relationship with a customer who's invested in the work
  • Potentially exclusive repertoire not available elsewhere

What Can You Request?

I specialise in string orchestra arrangements (with or without solo instrument). I focus on:

  • Public domain works — Romantic violin concertos, Baroque favourites, Classical gems
  • Pedagogical repertoire — ABRSM Grades 1-8 range
  • Solo + strings — Violin, viola, cello, bass with string orchestra - I’m also starting to expand by woodwind offering too…
  • Chamber strings — String quartets, trios, duos
  • Orchestral reductions — Full orchestra works adapted for string orchestra

Not sure if your request fits? Just ask — I'll let you know if it's possible.

The Process

  1. Submit your request — Tell me what piece you'd like arranged, the instrumentation you need, and your ideal difficulty level
  2. I'll review and confirm — I'll respond within 48 hours to confirm I can arrange it and give you an estimated timeline (typically 1-4 weeks)
  3. I'll arrange and engrave — You'll receive progress updates as I work
  4. You preview and purchase — When it's complete, I'll send you a preview score. If you're happy, you purchase at standard catalogue pricing
  5. You get your score — Instant PDF download, plus the arrangement enters the public catalogue for others to discover

What if I don't like it? I'll work with you on reasonable revisions before publication. My goal is to create something you're excited to use.

Timeline Expectations

  • Standard arrangements — 1-4 weeks from confirmation to completion
  • Complex or longer works — 1-6 weeks. I did the full Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto arrangement in 4 days but I had nothing else in my diary that week!
  • Urgent requests — If you have a specific deadline (e.g., concert date), let me know and I'll see if I can prioritise it

FAQs

Q: Do I have to buy it once it's finished?

A: No obligation. If the finished arrangement doesn't meet your needs, you're not required to purchase. However, it will still be added to the catalogue for others.

Q: Will I get it before anyone else?

A: Yes. You'll receive advance access and can purchase as soon as it goes live on the website.

Q: What about copyright?

A: I work with public domain repertoire only.

Q: Can other people request the same piece?

A: Yes. If multiple people request the same work, I'll prioritise it and notify everyone when it's ready.

Why This Model Works

Most arrangers charge £800-3,000 for commissioned work. That's fair compensation for professional expertise, but it prices out most teachers and small ensembles.

This model flips the economics:

  • You get professional-quality scores at catalogue pricing
  • I get validated market research and catalogue growth
  • The community benefits from expanded repertoire availability

It only works because these arrangements become part of the public catalogue. If you need exclusive rights to an arrangement that will never be publicly available, that requires a traditional paid commission (contact me to discuss).

What Happens After Publication?

Once your requested arrangement is complete and published:

  • It's available on MyMusicScores.com
  • It's distributed to JW Pepper, ArrangeMe, ScoreExchange, and other platforms
  • You've helped expand the repertoire available to string players worldwide
  • Other teachers and performers benefit from your request

You're not just getting a score—you're contributing to our amazing string community.
