Intermediate Repertoire

Grades 5 and 6 is where playing starts to get genuinely interesting. The pieces in this section make real technical and musical demands, and reward the kind of dedicated practice that serious students are putting in at this stage. The collection covers violin, viola, and cello, with string orchestra or piano accompaniment.

The repertoire includes concertos and movements by composers such as Eccles, Goltermann, and Accolay, alongside Romantic showpieces and character pieces that introduce different styles and performance traditions. These are substantial works, well suited to youth orchestra auditions, scholarship assessments, festival competitions, and Grades 5 and 6 examination preparation.
