Early Intermediate Repertoire (Grade 3-4)
Early intermediate repertoire
Players at Grades 3 and 4 are moving beyond the basics and into repertoire that starts to make real musical demands. This section brings together solo pieces and concertos for violin, viola, and cello with string orchestra or piano accompaniment, suited to players working at ABRSM Grades 3 and 4.
The repertoire includes pedagogical concertos by composers such as Seitz, Rieding, and Portnoff, alongside lyrical arrangements and accessible Baroque and Classical movements. These are pieces with enough musical substance to reward genuine interpretive work, while remaining technically appropriate for this stage.
Well suited to school concerts, festival and competition preparation, and Grades 3 and 4 examination repertoire. No performance licence is required, and all scores are available as instant PDF downloads.
If you're outside the UK and unfamiliar with ABRSM grades, the technical description above gives you a sense of the level and the full video preview on each score page is the best way to judge whether a piece is right for your situation.
