Dancla 6 Petites fantaisies faciles Op. 126 for Violin and Piano Book 1

Charles Dancla wrote his 6 Petites Fantaisies faciles, Op. 126 as short, well-mannered showpieces for violin students working just beyond first position, and this MyMusicScores edition presents two of them, the Valse and the Elegante, as Book 1 for violin and piano.

Both pieces stay within first and third position throughout, which puts the left-hand work at Grade 5. The technical interest sits mostly in the bow. The Valse opens with a free, unmeasured flourish marked lento et ad lib, settles into a lyrical Andante cantabile, works through an Allegretto marked léger et bien enlevé, then closes as a proper 3/8 valse with a sautillé passage near the end. The Elegante opens forte with a rising, risoluto flourish, has its own Andante cantante and a con eleganza middle section, and finishes with an Allegretto built entirely on off-the-string bowing at the point.

A player with third position secure but little call yet to use sautillé or spiccato gets both here in a controlled, teachable dose, alongside real phrasing work in the two Andante sections.
